Trenitalia regional trains & child age

Valid on all regional trains except in the regions of Campania, Abruzzo, Sardinia, Puglia and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano:

FREE: up to 4 years of age (not turned 4) accompanied by an adult and not occupying a seat.
50% DISCOUNT: from 4 to 12 years old.
FULL PRICE: over 12 years old.

Abruzzo: free under 1 metre tall, accompanied by an adult and not occupying a seat.

Bolzano: free under 6 years of age as well as children resident in the Province of BZ who have reached the age of 6 but are not yet in compulsory schooling, always accompanied by a paying adult and not occupying a seat.

Campania: free under 6 years, always accompanied by a paying adult and not occupying a seat. Full price over 6 years old.

Lombardy: free up to 4 years of age, accompanied by an adult and not occupying a seat; 50% discount: from 4 to 14 years of age; full price over 14 years.

Puglia: free of charge up to the age of ten accompanied by an adult holding a valid ticket; from the age of ten there are no free rides or reductions according to age.

Sardinia: free of charge under 6 years of age, if accompanied by an adult holding a valid ticket, (provided they are in possession of a document proving their age in cases of doubt); in this case the accompanying person for several children under 6 years of age must purchase a ticket at the full fare for every two (e.g. one child is free, two children - one full ticket, three children - one full ticket, four children - two full tickets, etc.).

Trento: free of charge under 6 years of age accompanied by a paying adult (or holder of free tickets and passes) and entitled to a seat, with a maximum of 5 children under 6 years of age for each accompanying adult.

SPECIAL FARES

Lazio - Fiumicino Airport - fare 1/Ter: children under four years of age travel free of charge provided they are accompanied by an adult holding a valid ticket; children aged between 4 and 12 years of age travel free of charge provided they are accompanied by an adult holding a valid ticket; in this case one child can travel free of charge for each paying adult.

Sicily - Palermo Airport: children under four years of age travel free of charge provided they are accompanied by an adult holding a valid ticket; from 4 to 12 years of age they pay €3 (Series B) from the Palermo area to Punta Raisi station, or an extra €1.50 (Series C) from any station outside the Palermo area to Punta Raisi station.

Fare 14 urban/metropolitan areas: in the cities of Bari, Rome, Venice, Palermo and Turin, where Fare 14 Urban Area is in force, the children's reduction is not applied.
